Audrey

Audrey was agirl that sat in my class room

She never said a word

She just sat there so furtively

I never noticed her until I heard the radio Telling about the way she took her life

Today it's all upon the covers of the papers About her folks at home

I guess her daddy is a drinker

Her mummy left her when she was just a tiny child

tell me Audrey

Was that the first time you felt abandonment?

Hold on baby, don't be sorry

cause every day has it's up's and downs Hold on baby, they'lI be sunshine

every life has it's stormy nights

Come to think about it there are some things

I can recall about her arms

They had blue spots on them

I remember then thinking these thoughts to myself,

Is it wrong to wonderabout somebody else's problems

I'm not burdened with at all

Hold on ...

Oh there there she lays down in the bottom of the river Tell me, what crime did it take?

that tore this girls only willingnes

But I will pray

That someday she'lI rise again

And if you're up their

I hope you can see my sorrow And the pain of guilt

I never asked you how you were

But one thing I can assure you after witnessing

what has been done

I will open my heart to the new girl that sits next door

Hold on ...
